"Occupational therapy was a real eye opener to me. My only other experience of it was people at work who had a bad back! But in reality it was a really proactive, practical process.
It's not just counseling, but a way of changing how you think. Between sessions it was clear that Kate would take time to think about her clients and plan further sessions based on needs. Everything was personalised and it never felt like a generic session. The homework activities make you constantly think and reflect rather than it just being something you do once a week in the sessions.
For me the biggest impact was in terms of sleep. Kate was able to support me to develop much better sleep hygiene and this had a profound impact on how I felt during the day.
Because it's such a practical process, the strategies you use stay with after your sessions finish and it really empowers you to make lasting change."
"Working with Kate has been really helpful in my recovery process. I found myself desperately wanting to make practical changes in my routine and life but feeling stuck and unable to work out why.
Kate and I were able to explore what was keeping me stuck, including exploring my sensory profile and preferences, and develop practical ways to enable change. Kate spends a lot of time between sessions planning and thinking what will work for each individual client, producing bespoke activity planning and reflection sheets. I’ve found it really helpful to have these written prompts and Kate has also explained the theory behind what we’ve covered which was also helpful.
